A report in The Borneo Post dated March 29 entitled Comtec Solar confirms RM1.2 bln investment in Sama Jaya announced that Comtec Solar International (M) Sdn Bhd (Comtec Solar) will invest RM1.2 billion in a solar wafer plant at the Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone in Kuching.
Comtec Solar intends to make the Sarawak solar wafer plant the world’s biggest N type mono wafer manufacturing plant. I’m not sure what that means exactly, but it sure sounds good for the Sarawak economy.
Even better, the plant is expected to provide 1,300 employment opportunities for Sarawak’s young graduates and diploma holders.
According to The Borneo Post article, Comtec Solar is a professional solar silicon ingots and wafer manufacturer based in Shanghai and Hai An.
It is listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong and is the among world’s top three N type mono wafer manufacturer.
Looks like the State is not managed as badly as some online reports might suggest, so let’s hope more investors come in and create more jobs for our people here.
